Imran Khan Invites Afghan Team to Pakistan
As a result of improving bilateral relations, Imran Khan has invited the Afghan team to Pakistan to initiate Afghanistan cricket.
In recent events, Pakistan Cricket Board’s Chief Executive, Wasim Khan, claimed that the Prime Minister, Imran Khan had invited the Afghan cricket team to Pakistan. He further said that this invitation is likely to make the Afghan team’s visit to Pakistan possible, and Afghanistan cricket shall soon be initiated.
“The two boards will work together to open a window in this regard and every effort will be made to make the series possible. As we all know that next year of Pakistan team is very busy, we will try to open a window for the Afghan team. If next year’s window is not possible, we will make it possible in 2022, and for that, we need immediate action,” he added.
Wasim further stated that Pakistan had always been in favor and support of the Afghan team, Rashid Latif and Inzamam-ul-Haq trained most of the Afghan team themselves. It would be great to bring the Afghan team to Pakistan!
Currently, with the coronavirus global pandemic, Wasim Khan says that it has significantly raised costs for PCB. “Hotel accommodation and air travel costs have all gone up, but we will not call it an expense, it is an investment, we will continue to invest because of cricket because this investment will benefit the country. We launched domestic cricket activities at the end of September, including under-19, series against Zimbabwe and PSL matches, which benefited the hotel industry,” he said. They plan on doing the same after bringing the Afghan team to Pakistan.
Wasim Khan said that the hotel business flourished from several players lodging into 5-star hotels, it also created multiple job opportunities for the public since the hotel needed extra staff. Moreover, Wasim says that through cricket and sports activities they will continue to contribute to the country’s economy by creating revenue. He says that the Afghan team’s visit to Pakistan will also contribute to the country’s economy.
