Khalil ur Rehman Qamar Targets Bilawal Bhutto Zardari
When the reporters brought up Bilawal's stance, Khalil ur Rehman Qamar bashed Bilawal Bhutto Zardari by implying he is neither a man nor a woman.
Over the past few weeks, much of the news has been influenced by the Khalil ur Rehman Qamar and Marvi Sirmed spat on Neo TV. After the TV show ended, many people used social media platforms like Twitter to argue whether Aurat March is valid or not. This topic was discussed not only by the common people, but was also discussed in the parliament, where many politicians offered similar opinions as Khalil ur Rehman Qamar. However, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari came in defense of the march, along with other PPP leaders such as Sherry Rehman.
What did Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Say?
The days leading to Aurat March were full of people giving their two cents about its validity. Bilawal said that Benazir Bhutto’s name comes to mind whenever the rights of women are discussed in Pakistan.
“Islam gives rights to women and Pakistan People’s Party is the most prominent party with regards to women’s rights. Our 1973 Constitution gives equal rights to the women of Pakistan. We want equal rights for labourers, growers and women.
“In today’s Pakistan, women will march as well as take up professions such as doctors, lawyers, and prime minister. No one has the authority to tell the women of Pakistan how to do politics, of what their politics should be, of what they should or should not protest. There is no one—whether politician, maulana, or TV anchor—who can block their path.”
Khalil ur Rehman Qamar reacts to Bilawal Bhutto’s stance
When the reporters brought it up with Khalil ur Rehman Qamar, he bashed Bilawal Bhutto Zardari by implying he is neither a man nor a woman. After this, laughter ensued throughout the room.
“If I say something, you people will laugh. This is a meeting of men and women. Only men and women will be discussed here.”
