Kim Jong-un Appears in Public After 20 Days
Kim Jong-un is the dictator of North Korea who had been lying low for the past few days. However, his comeback has been shared with the world now.
North Korean dictator, Kim Jong-un, has appeared in public after 20 days. He was recently seen at a factory opening in North Korea, reported by North’s state news media. It is said that Kim Jong-un had undergone heart surgery but rumors surfaced on social media about him being in a ‘vegetative state’ or ‘brain dead’.
However, on Friday, the North Korean leader attended a public ceremony. Photos of him cutting the ribbon were also shared. Yohnap quoted North Korean state media:
“Kim attended a ceremony marking the completion of a fertilizer plant in Sunchon, South Phyongan Province,”
Speculation about his health started after Kim Jong-un missed a major event and holiday. He missed the birth anniversary celebrations of his grandfather, state founder Kim Il Sung on April 15. This holiday is considered one of the biggest events in North Korea and Kim never misses it. He visits the mausoleum where his grandfather lies to mark this day.
After he missed the event, a rumor started that Kim Jong-un’s health has worsened, which was then shared by many reputable international media outlets as well. But then came a more sensational headline in US media that the North Korean leader was in a critical condition after heart surgery.
It should be noted that this isn’t the first time Kim Jong-un has disappeared. He went missing for 40 days in September 2014. However, the state media had never explained the reason behind him being missing for such a long period. But South Korea’s intelligence reported that it was probably due to an ankle operation.
