KPK Launches Mobile App to Register Abuse

Women’s Protection Wing in KPK launches a mobile app to register abuse against women, children and transgender, along with a website. This is the first application of this kind to be launched in KPK, and is available in eight languages including, but not limiting to, Urdu, English, Pashto, Chinese and Arabic.
The mobile app against abuse has been developed by a private organisation named Zomung Joundon. The organisation is a part of Women Protection Wing, and works on women empowerment.
The chairperson of Women Protection Wing, Wafa Wazir, stated that women, children and transgender persons can register reports of abuse via the app. The staff working at the agency will contact the complainant and forward it to the concerned authorities within an hour.
Women Protection Wing has a special team for contacting legal experts, psychological experts, police, and the federal investigation agency (FIA). All institutions are informed after registering the complaint.

It has been tough dealing with domestic abuse in the lockdown due to COVID-19, and to ensure the safety of women, children and transgender in such time, this mobile app has been launched. The only issue that comes with such technological innovations is that there are many regions within the province and the country as a whole where women are not allowed to have personal mobile phones.
