KPK Wins The National T20 Inter-Provincial Trophy

With the newly introduced T20 Inter-Provincial Association Trophy tournament happening in full swing, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa makes a remarkable ten-run win against Southern Punjab at the Pindi Stadium on Sunday night.

As the defending champions Northern Punjab exited the National T20 Inter-Provincial tournament, KPK quickly became the new fan favorite; and it sure lived up to the label by winning the six-team second edition with such class. Fakhar Zaman and Shoaib Malik’s exhilarating innings enabled KPK into hitting 206 for 4 in only 20 overs.

Moreover, Southern Punjab was taken down by Shaheen Afridi’s over (3-36), where he managed to bowl out captain Shan Masood and the dangerous batsman Shoaib Maqsood. It is safe to say that due to Shaheen’s over, the T20 Inter-Provincial Trophy was in KPK’s hands.

Even though for a limited period, it did look like the game was in Southern Punjab’s hands, however, once the two veteran batsman departed, the team sort of fell apart. Muhammad Imran managed to get in three sixes from Usman Shinwari’s last over, which did not prove enough for the team, and Southern Punjab could only manage to score 196 for 8.

The fielding done by Southern Punjab was a nightmare; missed catches, mispredictions, and miscalculations. According to critics, the Southern Punjab team should have opted to bat first, however, due to immense game pressure Shan Masood put KPK into batting. Fakhar Zaman, who was named the highest run-getter for the entire tournament, along with Muhammad Rizwan, made Shan Masood regret his decision and took the T20 Inter-Provincial Trophy out of their hands.

The already won game got even better for KPK when Shoaib Malik came into the field and set fire to the stadium with his 22-ball innings that consisted of four sixes and three boundaries, making KPK the champions for the T20 Inter-Provincial Trophy!
