Kuwait Claims to Have Recorded World’s Highest Temperature of 63°C

The city of Kuwait and Al Majmaah in Saudi Arabia have claimed to broken world record temperatures.

Recently within this week, Kuwait has recorded world’s highest temperature which was 63°C in sunlight (52.2°C in shadows) on 8th of June. It was reported by Gulf News on June 13th and it also mentioned that temperature rose to 55°C in Saudi Arabia.

It has however not been confirmed yet as a ‘World Record’ by United Nations agency World Meteorological Organization (WMO). Till Kuwait city’s temperature is verified, the world record temperature still stands at 56.7°C which was recorded on July 10, 1913 – at Death Valley in Furnace Creek Ranch, California.

Other claims include 54°C in Mitrabah, Kuwait and in Turbat, Pakistan in the years 2016 and 2017 respectively. The WMO committee is yet to confirm these claims made from Asia for which it has setup different committees. The claims made by Kuwait and Saudi Arabia are currently under investigation.
