Legendary Poet Ahmed Faraz’s son Shibli Faraz declared the Leader of the house in Senate.

Nazam Dulhan Thi Teri, Ghazal Teri Mehbooba                                                                                  Alwida Ahmed Faraz, Jaa Tujh ko Khuda Ko Sonpa

25th August 2008 was the day when the legendary poet Ahmed Faraz passed away. Love and resistance rendered in simple words, such was the craft of the late poet Ahmad Faraz.  As the poet penned book-after-book, nimbly straddling between the two subjects, his admirers across age and class responded in equal measure. Some of his famous books are “Janan Janan,” “Tanha Tanha”, “Dard Ashub”, “Sher I Gul Preshan Hai,” and “Shabkoon.” Numerous couplets that he penned have become proverbs.

Exactly 10 years after this day, his son Shibli Faraz was nominated as the leader of the house in Senate by the newly elected Prime Minister Imran Khan. Faraz has been a member of Senate since 2015. His uncle, Barrister Syed Masood Kausar, has served as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor.

“Prime Minister Imran Khan is pleased to appoint Senator Syed Shibli Faraz to act as Leader of the House on behalf of the PM to represent government and to regulate government business in the Senate with effect from August 24,” said the secretariat’s notification.
