Looney Tunes Comes Back But Without Guns
The all-new Looney Tunes Cartoons will be available on HBO Max and executive producer Peter Browngardt told The New York Times that, “We’re not doing guns,”
I’m a huge fan of Looney Tunes, I grew up watching these series and so did my parents. However, the series was discontinued but the good news is that it’ll soon be launched on our screens. The all-new Looney Tunes Cartoons will be available on HBO Max. The other good news about the show is that the iconic character will not be using any guns.
“We’re not doing guns,” executive producer Peter Browngardt told The New York Times. “But, we can do cartoony violence — TNT, the Acme stuff. All that was kind of grandfathered in.” This was further proved by Warner Bros as they released a short clip showing Elmer using a melee to catch Bugs Bunny. Elmer Fudd was an iconic character and his go-to weapon was a rifle. However, the characters will be using their TNT and other crackers.
This new series will be featuring all of your beloved classic characters but with a twist to it. “Some of them have maybe gone a little too far, so they might come out in a different format,” Browngardt said. The nostalgia is about to hit hard with the comeback of Looney Tunes and the series. Bugs Bunny has been a favorite of many.
Browngardt also shared a fun insight with the New York Times. He mentioned that they don’t write or follow scripts. They’ve hired a bunch of cartoonists who get together in a room, draw funny scenarios of the character, gag over it and then go with it. That’s how most of the scenes are formed.
It’s an interesting insight considering how much I, and all of the people that I know, loved this show as a kid. It’ll bring back many memories. Skipping the rifle part is a step ahead to eliminate violence as we already have a lot of negativity around us.
