Mai Karachi – A Fundraiser Program For Flood Relief In Karachi
Both Lahooti and KMC are coming together in Karachi at Burns Garden on October 2nd for a concert and much more to raise money for flood victims.
In order to raise money for flood relief, Lahooti and the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) are organising Mai Karachi, which will take place at Burns Garden on October 2 from 1 pm to 11 pm. The fundraiser will include a performance and a market for folk art, and all ticket sales earnings will go to the charity.
The Lahooti Melo poster was released on Sunday by Saif Samejo, the leader of the Pakistani Sufi band The Sketches, and Lahooti, the foundation that organises the festival. “Lahooti, a grassroots cultural group from Sindh, has always fought for social change via dance, literature, art, and music. The floods have impacted numerous underprivileged groups in Sindh, especially indigenous folk performers and their families. Join us or contribute,” he stated in the caption, and he included a link to a page listing other ways to help, such as by purchasing tickets to the fundraising concert.
All ticket sales from the “largest fundraiser concert” will benefit flood relief and recovery, according to the organisation. In response to a commenter’s inquiry concerning “on the site” tickets, Samejo stated that they will also be sold at the Burns Garden as well.
The singer emphasised the main goal of “Coming Together,” stating that it is to aid Sindhi artists who were victims of the recent floods and lost their houses. He continued, “They aren’t even holding concerts or performances to make their living.” A portion of the funds, according to Samejo, would be given to a reputable organisation that is already assisting flood victims on the ground.
“We too have the ambition to set some precedent by creating some model with the help of experts that can inspire others,” said Saif Samejo.
Artists like The Sketches, Hamza Akram Qawwal, Sounds of Kolachi, Nafs, Laal band, and Quaid Ahmed ft. DJ Zaphixx are among the concert’s announced artists. The RLCC’s crafts as well as the fashion line Sabhiya’s and Avari will be sold at the folk marketplace.
