Miss England Hangs Up Her Crown to Tackle COVID-19
Bhasha Mukherjee, the junior doctor who is now Miss England 2019, has decided to return to the medical field and help her nation fight COVID-19.
Bhasha Mukherjee, the junior doctor who had won the title of Miss England 2019, has decided to return to the medical field and help her country fight COVID-19. She is hanging up her crown and will be joining the other NHS workers once she is out of self-isolation.
Mukherjee was in India taking part in humanitarian activities on behalf of Coventry Mercia Lions Club as Miss England, when she heard about the COVID-19 situation worsening back home.
“I wanted to come back home. I wanted to come and go straight to work. I felt a sense of, this is what I’d got this degree for and what better time to be part of this particular sector than now?” Mukherjee further added, “There’s no better time for me to be Miss England and helping England at a time of need.”
The current Miss England is specialised in respiratory medicine, and will do whatever it takes to help her nation fight against COVID-19.

As Miss England, Mukherjee represented England at the Miss World 2019 pageant in London. She placed in the Top 40 in the beauty pageant.
The current Miss England started her own charity at the age of 17 called The Generation Bridge Project; it connects the two generations of youth and elderly. Furthermore, she is actively involved with various charities both in the UK and abroad.
Bhasha Mukherjee is also endorsing Diabetes UK for her Beauty with a Purpose project. She is involved in Professor Gatrads WASUP charity, along with endorsing brands like Plastfree.
It is not surprising to see Miss England wanting to help her nation tackle COVID-19, when her past is filled with humanitarian actions and projects.
