25-year-old Nadia Murad is a human rights/anti-rape activist who has been named as the Nobel Peace Prize recipient, minutes ago. Known for raising voice against rape and rape offenders, she was kidnapped and held for three years. Upon freeing, she became a voice of women in Iraq and led the movement called Nadia’s Initiative, an organization dedicated to “helping women and children victimized by genocide, mass atrocities, and human trafficking to heal and rebuild their lives and communities.
Today, Nadia has won the Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war and armed conflict.
