On The Editor’s Radar – Issue #04

 Indus Scuba

It’d be safe to declare that I am quite an island baby, having lived in two islands – Singapore and Sri Lanka for a sufficient part of my life. Hence anything & everything to do with water sports gets me all too excited. I am yet to graduate to all-out scuba diving though, but love indulging in my good ol’ snorkeling on and off. And in Karachi I always choose Indus Scuba as it’s not just a diving club, it’s a diving family. The speed at which they take you through the sea is exhilarating.

This awesome crew is extremely professional and really go out of their way not only to take care of you but teach you essential skills beforehand. They got the best instructors and timings are convenient. The club also has a community of regular divers that constantly challenge and support each other. I’ve become a better diver as a result of my time with Indus Scuba. Also, I love their fancy new boat. Haven’t seen anything like it here!

Nameless Shop at Delawala

Okay so right next to Damascus at Delawala in Karachi, there runs a rather intriguing shop selling show pieces, home appliances, crockery, gym & sports goods, stationary, rugs, party decoratives & masquerades, handbags, junk jewelry and what not brought down here from different parts of the world at throwaway prices!

Before you get there already for your own little treasure hunt, let me give you a heads up as to how it is far from fancy and sure needs a keen patient eye through all the disorder and chaos as… ahem… that place needs some serious visual merchandizing & sorting. Once that be assured, trust me, you won’t leave empty-handed. My best pick was weighted tactile bean bags! Seeee….

IL Posto Pizza

My first romantic encounter with IL Posto’s oven-baked, soft & thin crust margarita pizza was at the Bite n Vibes food carnival held at Alliance Francaise, couple of months ago. Incessantly in love with it ever since. Aah the dash of herbs, basil and tangy homemade tomato sauces over that palpably rollable softest of airy crust and the freshest buffalo mozzarella cheese, makes me wanna… ok getting carried away all the way again. Sorry. IL Posto truly brings to us the authentic taste of Italy! Even the Italians will have to say the same, I bet.

Purple Shampoo

How many of us know there exists in this not so big bad world the “purple shampoos”?  And do you know how they can save the day, night, week, month and then some more for you? Not many I can bet. But when you find yourself in the survivor’s mode, desperately trying to tone down your newly streaked hair going orange, yellow, mustard… basically everything you didn’t want them to turn out to be, you turn to the God sent purple shampoo that would to quite an extent tone down the brassiness.

Apparently the purple pigment in these shampoos cut the orange/yellow being the exact opposite color by law & science and takes it towards the tamed down ashy tones. I picked two in a cry for help. Loreal Ever Pure Blonde Shampoo and John Frieda Color Renew. While the former will leave your hair smelling heavenly and lusciously smooth to touch and manage, the latter does the job more aptly when it comes to “color correction”. As much as I pray, you don’t find yourself in this unpleasant situation, it is but my job to equip you with the “solutions” now isn’t it!

Freedom Pro Glow

Pro Glow Multiple Baked Formula Blush pallets by Freedom from the founders of Makeup Revolution is my latest fetish. What started off as a mindless fling is now a full-blown affair. I mean I really couldn’t have told merely looking at the cute cat paws of a design pattern how much my face would start liking it day after day! Not that I am any less of a cat crazy and the paw print attracted me enough to start off.

Mine is their Meow shade, extremely silky it goes on your cheeks like a dream and adds a delicious natural glow to your face. We can apply it either individually or mix the colors together to suit the occasion. So this summer, I say, let’s swirl it up with your big brush and be lit!

Aztec Chocolate

Coming back home to an aesthetically pleasing chocolate box and warm wishes sent my way by Aztec Chocolates this Women’s Day sure made me feel “celebrated”. It’s not every day that I am compelled to use words such as “amazing,” “artistic looking,” “sophisticated,” and “ultra-smooth.” But that really is the only way to describe their range of premium Belgian chocolates.  It was as it is long due on my to-do list of savoring fabulous treats and while I am still yet to visit their Chocolate Shop at Khayaban-e-Badar in Karachi, I’m grateful for this little surprise and now well-knowing what incredible array of chocolates await us at their outlet. Let’s go!
