Pakistan Bait ul Mal, Easypaisa to Support the Needy

Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal and Telenor Microfinance Bank have worked together previously for the promotion of financial knowledge in women of the country. Now, they have expanded their partnership towards supporting widows and disabled persons through Easypaisa.

Pakistan Bait ul Mal (PBM) and Telenor Microfinance signed a MoU to launch an inclusive plan to support widows and people with disabilities through the use of Easypaisa.

According to PBM‘s Managing Director, Aon Abbas Buppi, PBM’s centres for orphan children – Dar-ul-Ehsaas – are closed throughout the nation and the children are living with their mothers or guardians. PBM will be transferring the monetary expenses of around 5,000 children to their guardians for their boarding, food, education and clothing. These expenses were previously borne by PBM.

Furthermore, PBM will also be providing supporting 5,000 persons with disabilities financially under their Special Friend Project. Transfer of funds to beneficiaries will be made on their CNICs via Easypaisa, Telenor Microfinance Bank‘s digital banking service. The beneficiaries will be able to receive the amount from Easypaisa’s widespread network of over 70,000 agents across Pakistan.

PBM and Telenor Microfinance Signing the MoU

Managing Director Pakistan Bait ul Mal thanked the CEO and President of Telenor Microfinance Bank for offering Easypaisa platform free of charge for disbursements, Managing Director PBM said that this cooperation is an interpretation of the vision of Prime Minister Khan has for taking concrete steps for supporting the vulnerable population of our country.

The CEO of Telenor Microfinance, M Mudassar Aqil, said, “Pakistan is fortunate to have a robust digital payments platform, Easypaisa, in place which can facilitate instant and safe Government-to-People transfers.

“Through this collaboration with Pakistan Bait ul Mal, we are playing our part in supporting the nation in this time of need. We have offered our Easypaisa platform for these transfers without any charges and are also working with other government and private institutions to leverage our cutting-edge digital financial services and keep the nation safe”.
