Pakistan’s Star Aleem Dar Breaks Record

Aleem Dar is set to broke a record of umpiring in the most of the test matches being played all across the world. Amazing, no?

Be it cricket fans or not, everyone is quite aware of Aleem Dar. Aleem Dar has been in cricket for a long time and came into the umpiring sector in 2000, where he officiated his first ODI. He umpired in his first test match in Dhaka in 2003, on England’s Tour to Bangladesh. Criticized rarely, Aleem has always been an inspiration for many different people across the world. He has umpired in 129 tests, 207 ODIs and 46 Twenty20 Internationals.

Because of hard work and dedication, Aleem Dar has broken the world record of umpiring the most test matches. He has broken the record of West Indies amazing Steve Bucknor who umpired in 128 matches. And that is not it. Aleem Dar is on his way to break one more record. He is two matches away from breaking Rudi Koertzen’s record of 207 ODI matches.

Aleem Dar was quite glad over this. He told ICC “This is one milestone I had never thought of when I began my umpiring career. It is a truly amazing feeling and a high point of my life when I take the field here in Australia; thousands of miles from where I started my international career at home in Gujranwala.”

ICC Senior Manager of Umpire and Referees, Adrian Griffith, also appreciated Aleem Dar. He said ““I congratulate Aleem on this milestone and wish him all the best for the game. It is not easy officiating in this modern day of intense scrutiny, but I am sure with his dedication he will continue to move umpiring forward in the years to come.”
