PCB Challengers Bag the T20 Trophy
With the National Triangular T20 Women's cricket championship going on in full swing at Rawalpindi, PCB Challengers emerge as the winners!
On Tuesday, 1st December, the PCB Challengers defeated the PCB Dynamites to be named the winners of the National Triangular T20 Women’s cricket title! The championship final was held in Rawalpindi at the Pindi Cricket Stadium.
The Dynamites won the toss, and captain Ramin Shamim chose for the PCB Challengers to bat. The challengers managed to score a total of 133-7 with Kainat Hafeez coming forward as the top scorer in the T20 by making 31 runs. Her 27-ball innings were laced with three fours and one six.
Similarly, Fatima Sana was the only other batter from PCB Challengers to bypass 20 runs, as she made 24 runs over 22 balls with one six and one four in the T20.
Moreover, PCB Dynamites’ put on a tough competition for PCB Challengers in the T20. Leg-spinner, Subhana Tariq, bowled incredibly claiming 3 wickets for 37 runs with slow left-arm, Nashra Sandhu, and off-spinner, Ramin, taking one apiece.
When the Dynamites came into batting, PCB Challengers gave them a tough time by restricting them to 126-6. Even though Nahida Khan scored a 39 over 37 balls.
In turn, Challengers’ leg spinner, Aroob Shah, picked up two wickets by 17 runs with great support from seamers Aiman Anwar, Fatima, and off-spinning all-rounder Nida Dar.
As the PCB Challengers were declared the winners of the T20 championship, Muneeba Ali, who had excelled behind the stumps with three dismissals, collected the winners’ trophy and prize-money of Rs1 million, while the opposing team captain, Ramin, was presented with the runners-up Rs500,000 award.
Kainat Imtiaz was announced as the player-of-the-tournament for her tally of 111 runs and three wickets and received Rs50,000. Whereas Kainat Hafeez was declared player-of-the-match.
