Saba Qamar and Bilal Saeed acquitted over religious defamation charges
Saba Qamar and Bilal Saeed were acquitted of all charges on Monday.
Saba Qamar and Bilal Saeed have been cleared of the religious defamation charges levied against them.
They were previously filed under Section 295 of the PPC by complainant Sardar Farhat Manzoor Khan. The complainant stated that the celebs “hurt religious sentiments” by shooting at the mosque.
The shooting was for Bilal Saeed’s single “Qabool Hai” and was meant to be shot at Wazir Khan Mosque.
According to Section 295 of the PPC; “Whoever destroys, damages or defiles any place of worship, or any object held sacred by any class of persons with the intention of thereby insulting the religion of any class of persons or with the knowledge that any class of persons is likely to consider such destruction damage or defilement as an insult to their religion shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both.”
Both Saba Qamar and Bilal Saeed had sought bail during the case. Arrest warrants were issued against both parties for their non appearance in court.
However, the court instead demanded that the accused parties pay Rs.30,000 in security bonds and ordered both parties to appear in court.
