Saint Laurent’s Fashion Show in a Desert
One of France's most famous couture houses, Saint Laurent, held their recent Women's Summer Collection 2021 show in a mysterious desert.
This year, for a change, the Saint Laurent fashion show for its summer 2021 collection took place very discreetly in a mysterious desert. While only drone footage of the stunning models walking in high heels on the tall sand-dunes is available.
Every year, France’s top couture houses look for the most exquisite and unique venues to display their latest collections. However, with catwalks closed and the rise of the second wave of the Covid-19, brands are now constantly at war with each other to bag exceptional locations for their online shows. Saint Laurent chose a desert for their fashion show this year.
During the first wave of the pandemic in April, Saint Laurent, owned by the Kering conglomerate, had to part from their usual twice-yearly calendar of women’s catwalk shows in Paris.
The latest Saint Laurent collection is designed by Anthony Vaccarello. The collection was revealed on Tuesday, 16th December, along with a 10-minute Vaccarello fashion film called “I wish you were here”.

During this Saint Laurent show, some models can be seen struggling to walk in high heels in the desert. However, the clothing was truly a work of art- a display of sensuous evening wear and traditional pantsuits along with tight-fitting ribbed skirts under black leather jackets, figure-hugging black dresses with a top-to-bottom zipper, sheer halter dresses, and gold-and-black brocade jackets.
Most of the Saint Laurent looks were mixed and matched with some flowing dresses with floral patches. Many models sported YSL-branded mini belt bags to match.
Upon several inquiries, Saint Laurent has declined to disclose the location of their latest online fashion show. They have simply said that it was “a desert in the north” as the models walked along a bonfire burning on the dune’s crest, the flames which were ignited in the evening sparkle, gold embroidery and Claude Lalanne-designed jewelry.
