Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy has become one of the most recognized Pakistani in the globe. Her passion and dedication towards her craft has made her one of the most reputable documentarians in the world.
This has led to her accumulating several accolades throughout her career which include the prestigious Academy Award twice.
Now, she has once again been bestowed with another recognition. This time by the British human rights organization, The People’s Portfolio.
Each year, the organization hosts an event that highlight the work of human rights defenders around the world. The aim of such events is to help bring public awareness to issues of human rights abuses happening in the world.
This year’s event seeks to celebrate the work of Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, who through her documentaries, has constantly shed a light on the plight of women in Pakistan. Women who have been victims of brutal culture based violence such as acid attacks and honor killings.
