Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy Is Onto Directing Next Big Star Wars Movie
The plot of the upcoming Star Wars film is still a secret, and the script is currently being written. It will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.
According to reports, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is the chef in the kitchen of a potential new Star Wars movie.
American screenwriter Damon Lindelof, who has scripted for Star Trek, The Watchmen, and Tomorrowland, is reportedly working on a new Star Wars movie for Lucasfilm, a division of Walt Disney Studios. According to sources, Obaid-Chinoy has been selected as the film’s director, but production is not yet scheduled because the screenplay is still being revised.
It was crucial to direct the screenplay with the person’s own idea for how they saw the plot unfolding in mind, so the filmmaking team apparently selected a director before they sought a co-writer.
Until the time comes for the creators to greet the audience into a new realm officially, the film’s primary subject will remain a well-guarded secret. The fact that a director was aggressively sought suggests that this movie has the most momentum among those in creation at the studio, even though the launch date appears to be in the far future.
The final Star Wars movie, Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker, came out in 2019. Although they have multiple films in development, the studio has been mainly focused on TV projects. Since creating a series they’re happy with is their top goal, they are taking their time instead of moving swiftly to start the next property.
Obaid-Chinoy recently directed a show for Disney, Ms Marvel which is a short series with a Pakistani girl as the lead. The show was not only hailed for representing a large segment of people that only makes it onscreen as side characters, if at all, but also for its storyline and direction. The filmmaker is an Oscar and Emmy-winning director known for documentaries such as Saving Face and A Girl in the River, The Price of Forgiveness. She is currently involved in directing Paramount’s adaptation of the novel Brilliance, produced by Will Smith.
