Shoaib Akhtar Receives Legal Notice From PCB Counsel

Former cricketer and fast bowler, Shoaib Akhtar, is in hot waters again but he knows to tackle it. Shoaib had called out senior legal adviser of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Tafazzul Rizvi, for incompetence. As a result, Tafazul Rizvi sent a Rs100million defamation notice to Shoaib Akhtar. His opinions and straightforwardness have landed him in a difficult position legally.

Shoaib made the announcement regarding the notice on Twitter. However, he also mentioned that he has hired a lawyer. He mentioned that the notice was fabricated and based on lies. Hence, he will fight and give an equally ‘befitting’ reply. Shoaib also said that he stands by his words and has the right to give and opinions.

Shoaib Akhtar tweeted:

“I have received a notice from Tafazzul Rizvi which is based on lies & fabrications. I’ve engaged Mr @SalmanKNiazi1 as my lawyer to send befitting legal reply on my behalf to said notice. I stand by my words regarding incompetence & unsatisfactory performance of Mr Rizvi,”

Before receiving the notice, Younus Khan has also sided with Shoaib on his opinions regarding the ‘incompetence’ of senior advisor Tafazzul. In a tweet, Younus Khan shared his two cents and support towards his former colleague.

It is reported that Salman Niazi has confirmed his involvement in the case as a lawyer of the former fast bowler. In his defamation notice, Tafazzul Rizvi said he is the fourth generation of lawyers in his family and has handled thousands of cases. Even Akhtar contacted him for professional advice in the 2000s, he claimed.

Tafazzul Rizvi has demanded that Shoaib should take back his words along with providing an unconditional apology admit that what he stated was wrong. Otherwise, he will have to pay Rs 100million (10 crore) as a fine for defaming him.
