A petition of United Producers Association (UNA) against telecast of Indian Content on TV channels was filed in the Supreme Court. They have been pushing this ban for quite some time now and it finally paid off.
On 27th of October, it was announced that a complete ban will be put on Indian content on all Pakistani channels with immediate effect.
The chief Justice of Pakistan said: “Our dams are being shut, why shouldn’t we ban their channels?”
He also further said that someone is trying to create a hurdle in construction dams into Pakistan, affecting our water supply so why can’t we off-air their content?
“Shut Indian content immediately, only content meeting criteria, should be aired”, said Chief Justice of Pakistan.
PEMRA put a ban on Indian content back in 2016, which was later lifted.
