Taylor Swift and Joe Alywn Call It Quit After Six Years of Dating
After six years of dating, Taylor Swift and artist Joe Alwyn have called it quits. During Swift's The Eras Tour, the revelation first surfaced.
After six years of dating, musician Taylor Swift and British artist Joe Alwyn are apparently no longer dating.
The couple’s breakup was revealed by Entertainment Tonight on Sunday, sparking a media frenzy. A source told the magazine that the breakup was cordial and not melodramatic. “The relationship had just run its course. It’s why [Alwyn] hasn’t been spotted at any shows,” according to the source.
Taylor Swift is presently out on the road with The Eras. The following week, she will perform in Tampa, Florida.
The couple started to date in late 2016 and were said to be getting along great and had a very healthy relationship in October of the previous year, a source revealed.
The 2022 album Midnights’ song “Lavender Haze,” a tribute to Joe Alwyn, was disclosed by the 12-time Grammy winner on Instagram. Taylor wrote that when you’re in a lavender haze of love, “you’ll do anything to stay there and not let people bring you down off of that cloud.”
“Like my relationship for six years, we’ve had to dodge weird rumours, tabloid stuff and we just ignore it. This song is sort of about the act of ignoring that stuff to protect the real stuff,” Taylor continued.
The song “Sweet Nothing” from the same album was also written by the British star. Under the alias “William Bowery,” Alwyn was also given credit on a number of tracks from Swift’s 2020 albums Folklore and Evermore.
Taylor Swift revealed the co-real writer’s name and remarked that Alwyn “plays the piano beautifully and he’s always just playing and making things up and kind of creating things” in the 2020 Disney+ film Folklore: the long pond studio sessions.
Alwyn’s first Grammy victory came in 2021 when the record took home the Album of the Year award.
In a September 2018 interview with British Vogue, Alwyn commented, “I’m aware people want to know about that side of things. “I think we have been successfully very private, and that has now sunk in for people,” Taylor said.
