The Arrival of Snowfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
With the winters approaching in full swing, and the weather getting chilly; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was the first to witness snowfall!
The province, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has been witnessing nonstop spells of rain for the past two days, and the upper parts welcomed the season’s first snowfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa!
Rain began throughout the province on Friday and has managed to continue till Sunday.
According to the met department, Peshawar received 8mm of rain and the residents had to suffer prolonged power breakdowns due to it. Most of the rainwater had accumulated on the streets and many other parts of the city. However, it was not all bad since it brought snowfall into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In Swat, mountainous areas of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa district, including Malam Jabba, Miandam, Madyan, Bahrain, Mankyal, Kalam, Matiltan, Utror, Gabral, Lalku, Gabin Jabba, Sulatanr, witnessed heavy rainfall.
The local people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported approximately four feet of snow in Mahodand, Utror, and Kalam and three feet in Malam Jabba.
Snowfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was only exciting for a few moments until residents in Kalam said the main Bahrain-Kalam and Kalam-Mahodand roads were blocked due to heavy snowfall.
“About 50 vehicles of tourists on Bahrain-Kalam road have been stranded besides over 30 visitors at Mahodand Lake because the road remained blocked due to heavy snowfall,” said Nazir Ahmad, a resident of Kalam.
Moreover, the residents of Kalam mentioned that the power supply in their area was disrupted, and created many problems. However, the tourists seemed to enjoy the snowfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the snowcapped mountains.
The authorities have assured the people that the snow has been removed from the roads, “Heavy machinery has already been sent to clear the road at the Laikot area on Kalam Road,” said Swat deputy commissioner Saqib Raza Aslam.
The snowfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa started on Sunday and continued intermittently for the entire day. This has turned the weather chilly in the valley.
