The Children Are Dying

The ongoing war in Yemen has reached a high degree of alarming point, about 5 million children are in danger of dying of starvation, a UK based charity organization Save The Children has stated that if the Hodeiah port is disrupted or under attacked the result would wipe out an entire generation of Yemeni Children.

Aid groups have warned that the Hodeiah port is a vital lifeline for goods and aid for 80 percent of the country’s population and if under attacked could reduce the supply of food and fuel into the country and drive the prices up even further.

The CEO of the charity organization states that the war has caused a huge disturbance in the lives of children from physical to mental, and threats range from malnutrition, bombs to other diseases, more than two-thirds of Yemen’s population, 64.5 percent of all Yemenis, don’t know where their next meal will come from, babies are too malnutrition to even react to their basic need: hunger.  The failure to keep the food and fuel from reaching the citizens of Yemen could result in one of the worst hunger crisis in living history.

Talks are underway for a peace treaty, amid the war, yet no conclusion has been made, the UN special envoy for Yemen, Martin Griffiths is trying to restart peace talks.
