The Crown Will Return For Season Six After All
While Olivia Colman will be returning for Season 4, Imelda Staunton (famously known as Dolores Umbridge in the Harry Potter movies) will be taking over the role of Queen Elizabeth II in Seasons 5 and 6.
On July 9, Netflix announced that The Crown will return for the sixth season after all. This was the initial plan, however Netflix had decided at the time to end the show after five seasons.

In the thread, the creator of The Crown Peter Morgan stated, “As we started to discuss the storylines for Series 5, it soon became clear that in order to do justice to the richness and complexity of the story we should go back to the original plan and do six seasons.”
The Crown is based on the story of Queen Elizabeth II and usually every season covers a decade of her life since her reign began.
Claire Foy was the first actress who played the role of Queen Elizabeth II. She represented the years from 1947 to 1964 in the first two seasons of the show.
From then, Olivia Colman took the torch and played the complex character for the third season. She represented the years 1964 to 1977 in season 3. The Broadchurch star will continue to play the role of Queen Elizabeth II for the fourth season.
For the fifth and sixth seasons, the Harry Potter star Imelda Staunton will be taking on the role. You may remember her as Dolores Umbridge! It turns out that seasons five and six will be covering the same decade and we will get to see the Queen in a greater detail.
