The Lotus Lake in Islamabad: A New Tourist Site
Capital Development Authority Chairman, Amer Ali Ahmed, has recently inaugurated a new tourist spot- the lotus lake in Islamabad!
The City Managers have recently announced and inaugurated a new tourist in the country’s capital, Islamabad. Capital Development Authority Chairman, Amer Ali Ahmed, inaugurated the Lotus Lake in Islamabad on Sunday, 22nd November.
The site will be known as the Family Park, which is near the natural history museum. “The purpose of the facility is to provide a peaceful environment close to nature. The lotus lake in Islamabad will be another attraction for the citizens of the twin cities,” the CDA chief said.
There is no cemented infrastructure or construction done on the park- it is given a more natural look with wooden benches and a few barbeque pits here and there on the Shakarparian Hills. Moreover, the lotus lake inauguration in Islamabad was attended by multiple personalities such as civic body’s member finance Rana Shakeel Asghar, director-general environment Naveed Tareen, director environment Irfan Niazi and other CDA officers.
Currently, the lotus lake in Islamabad is under trial- it is 100ft long and 68ft wide and will be filled with water in the next few days. The area had a natural lotus lake with pink and white flowers. The lake, however, has reduced in size due to the construction of the complex in 2004 and 2005.
Amer Ali Ahmed assumed control from the Metropolitan Corporation’s environment wing and directed the CDA to develop the lotus lake and family park area in Islamabad. The park is almost 10 acres with a lotus lake, installed wooden benches, and a barbecue site.
“Taking great interest in construction and beautification of tourist spots, the CDA chairman inaugurated the family park and Kanwal (lotus) Lake at Shakarparian, Islamabad to provide the best tourism facilities to the citizens of the capital,” a press release issued by the CDA on Sunday said.
Moreover, the lotus lake and park in Islamabad is the first park inauguration since 2009 and will only be available to families.
