Killing in Lahore international airport

Two people were killed in Lahore after unidentified personnel opened fired at them at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore on Wednesday 3rd july.

The victims have been identified by the police as Zain Rafiq and Ikram. A third man named Asher has also been injured. They were returning from Saudi Arabia after performing Umrah when they were shot and killed. The suspect has been taken into custody by airport security personnel.

A police case was filed against Rafiq and he was accused of being involved in the killing of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) activist Babar Butt.

Butt who was killed in 2017, entered for a Punjab Assembly seat from PP-157 constituency in the 2013 elections on a PPP ticket and served as an active member of the People’s Youth Organisation (PYO) Lahore.

There is a heavy group of police present at the airport following the incident and there is strict monitoring of all vehicles.
