“What A Joy To See Ms. Marvel” Says Malala While Thanking The Immigrant Superhero

The superhero show Ms. Marvel has wowed Pakistanis online with its diversity and realistic plot and most recent Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai.

“What a joy to see Ms. Marvel reflect the lives of a Pakistani immigrant family and reveal a young superhero whose powers connect to her heritage. Thank you, Marvel and Disney+, and most importantly, Ms. Marvel,” wrote Malala in a letter to Ms. Marvel.

Ms. Marvel’s official Instagram account shared the statement with their fans on Wednesday, the series’ official premiere date. She began by stating that it is not often when a TV character is relevant enough for her, somebody who enjoys the same foods as her, loves the same music and uses the same Urdu words as her.

In addition, the humanist penned a piece for the Podium inside which she discussed the show’s debut episode. “I enjoy rooting for a girl that resembles me while she battles evil and saves friends. Ms. Marvel, on the other hand, is for any young woman trying to find her role in the universe. I was surprised by how much of Kamala Khan’s life appeared to me to be similar. She discusses Bollywood celebrity, Shah Rukh Khan, with her pals, enjoys Pakistani pop music, and enjoys chicken biryani with her parents. In Kamala’s affable father and rigorous mother, I believe many Pakistani children would recognise their own parents.” Yousafzai penned a letter.

Iman Vellani plays Kamala, a 16-year-old Pakistani-American kid from Jersey City, in the episode. Kamala is a budding artist, a die-hard game enthusiast, and a voracious writer of fan fiction. She is also a major admirer of the Avengers, namely Captain Marvel. But Kamala has always battled to find her role in the universe — until she gains superpowers similar to the heroes she idolises.

Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, an Oscar-winning Pakistani director, is directing the series alongside Meera Menon, Adil El Arbi, and Bilall Fallah. The first and second episodes will air on June 16, the third and fourth on June 30, and the fifth and sixth on July 14.
