Zaheer Abbas Gets Inducted in the ICC Hall of Fame
Former Pakistani cricketer Zaheer Abbas, aka the "Run Machine", has been inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame in 2020 for his amazing performance as a batsman over the years!
Former Pakistani cricketer Zaheer Abbas has been inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame in 2020! He is the first batsman who scored 5 successive centuries in international matches, and is considered the only Asian batsman who has scored 100 first class centuries.

Syed Zaheer Abbas Kirmani was born in Sialkot in the year 1947, and is famously known as the “Run Machine”. His first big score was in his second test match against England at 274 – by the time he was done, he had batted for 9 hours and 10 minutes.
When playing for counties in England, he chose to play for Gloucestershire. He scored 1,000+ runs each season; some of Zaheer Abbas’ highest runs playing for Gloucestershire were 2,544 in one glorious Indian summer of 1976 and another 2305 in 1981.
Zaheer Abbas was signed up by the Kerry Packer circus, after scoring 240 in the Oval Test in 1974 and some big scores on the Australian tour of 1976-77 including 101 at Adelaide. As he played for the Packers for the Indian series, he scored 176, 96 and 235 in successive innings.

For his 100th hundred, he scored a 215 against India in the 1982-83 Lahore Test was followed by two more Test hundreds in that series. Though he did get captaincy when Imran Khan got a shin injury, he only played one major innings, an unbeaten 168, again at Lahore, again against India.
