10 Movies and Series To Look Forward To In 2022

This list right here will give you ten more reasons to be excited for the year 2022. Movies and TV series which were delayed are all set to release in 2022.

Now that 2021 is behind us there are so many exciting things coming up, in the entertainment industry from long-awaited TV series to movies and a lot of music. So I guess the upcoming 12 months are going to be quite interesting.

Here is a list of things for you to look forward to:

1. House of Dragon (Game of Thrones prequel)

House of Dragon will follow the story of the house named Targaryen from Game of Throne. This prequel is set 200 years before the Game of Thrones timeline. House of Dragon is coming on HBO and HBO Max however the date hasn’t been revealed yet but it’s set to come in 2022. People who have signed up for the prequel are Matt Smith, Paddy Considine, Rhys Ifans, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, and Sonoya Mizuno.

2. The Batman: The Bat and The Cat

This movie was originally going to release in June 2021 however, due to Covid 19, the movie was delayed. Now it is set to release on March 4th, 2022. This is one of the most awaited movies amongst the superhero fans of the entertainment industry. In this movie, the Riddler will play quite a treacherous game of cat in Gotham City with Gordon and Batman all while revealing corruption in the city and connecting with family. You will get to see amazing actors like Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Collin Farrell, and Jeffrey Wrightback on your screen again. The storyline is based on the comic book.

3. Stranger Things 4

The team of Hawkins Highschool is back with your favorite set of, now graduated, kids. This season is set up during spring break and the season is set to come in the Summer of 2022 however the date hasn’t been revealed yet.

This will be a reunion for the graduated Hawkins Highschool where you will get to see Eleven, Will, and most probably Jonathan too. In this season, there will be nine episodes and most of the season will feature Eleven and her history. There is also a theory that we will finally know what happened to Doctor Benner.

4. Scream 5

One more movie from everyone’s favorite horror and thriller franchise of Scream. You will see Courtney Cox, David Arquette, and Neve Campbell resume their iconic role from the Scream series. In this movie, a new killer has taken over the Ghostface mask and is now attacking a group of teens to find out about the deadly past of the town.

The movie cast also includes Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Melissa Barrera, Dylan Minnette, Jack Quaid, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Jenna Ortega, Marley Shelton, and Sonia Ammar.

5. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Although Chadwick Boseman won’t be present for this movie, fans are excited to see how the movie turns out. After the superhit Black Panther from 2018 fans cant wait to see this sequel. Marvel chose not to replace the character of T’Challa, played by Chadwick Boseman, and production began in June of 2021 and carried on till November until the shooting stopped due to some challenges. However, the productions are supposed to resume in January of 2022 and the release of the movie is set in November of 2022.

6. Top Gun: Maverick

Yes, this iconic movie is back finally after a lot of delays. It was set to release in July of 2019 but due to some difficulties was delayed to June of 2020 but the Covid 19 pandemic had other plans and delayed the release even further to May 2022. Hopefully on May 27th, 2022 we will get to finally see the movie we have waited for since the announcement in 2017.

This movie is a sequel to the immensely successful Action and Romance movie, Top Gun released back in 1986. You will see Tom Cruise back on your screens in this American action drama film along with Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Glen Powell, Jon Hamm, Ed Harris, Louis Pullman, and none other than Val Kilmer. Fans are truly excited to see Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer take back their roles from the 1986 hit. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell relives and confronts his past while training some fresh graduates for a mission that demands sacrifice.

7. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

If you have not seen the post-credit clips from Spiderman: No way home or have not heard the chatters about the upcoming Doctor Strange movie, here are the details. The movie will be in cinemas by May 6th, 2022 with the most wanted cast member like Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Elizabeth Olson, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Xochiti Gomez.

From the Spiderman: No Way Home movie, the spell which went wrong may seem like affected only those directed connected to Spiderman but actually not. In the trailer, Dr. Strange seeks help from Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and ask her about what she knows about the multiverse.

8. Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts

Harry Potter: Return to Hogwarts was set to come in 2021 however due to some challenges the date moved forward to January 1st, 2021. So it is already out and trending as Harry Potter fans are showing love and sentiments towards the reunion they all have been waiting for, for years.

The documentary mostly uncovers behind-the-scenes clips and anecdotes shared by the cast of Harry Potter. They talk about everything and anything in the documentary from the bond and memories shared between the cast (like crushes) and production setbacks to paying tribute to cast members who are no longer alive.

9. Mission Impossible 7

Yes, yes, yes! You are getting two Tom Cruise movies this year. That’s motivation enough for the year to be much better than 2021 and 2020. But one of the most loved action spy movie franchises is back with its 7th one. It is supposed to release in cinemas all around the world on 30th September 2022. Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Ving Rhames, Henry Czerny, Simon Pegg, and Fredrick Schmidt will all reprise their role in the movie.

10. Thor: Love and Thunder

Thor franchise is back with its fourth movie directed by Ragnarok’s Taika Waititi in July of this year. And of course, fan-favorite Natalie Portman and Chris Hemsworth will be resuming their roles in the movie as Jane Foster and Thor respectively. The movie is expected to take inspiration from the Mighty Thor comics in which Jane takes on Thor’s power and mantle while she suffers from cancer.

Characters from Guardians of Galaxy are also to make an appearance in this film according to the reports.
