12-Year-old Bilawal Publishes “Pashtoon Heroes”
Bilawal Latif Dawar, now regarded as one of the world's most youngest authors, used his skills as an author to destroy the stereotypes about Pashtoons.
Bilawal Latif Dawar, a 12 year old boy from Peshawar, has published a book called Pashtoon Heroes. Bilawal, now regarded as one of the world’s most youngest authors, used his skills as an author to destroy the stereotypes about Pashtoons.
In an interview with Samaa TV, Bilawal stated, “I wrote the book because I wanted to bring pride to the Pashtoon people. There is a misconception in the West that Pashtoons are illiterate and I want this thinking to end.”
When talking about his book, 12 year old Bilawal mentioned one of the people in Pashtoon Heroes, “My book includes stories of great warriors such as Ahmed Shah Abdali.”
“If you want to write a good book, you have to do a lot of research, fact check things and take out references,” he said, as it was revealed that it took him 3 years to write the book.
Bilawal Latif Dawar was born and raised in Waziristan until 2014, which is when he and his family moved to Peshawar due to the militancy spreading in the region. Currently, he is a 7th year student at the Army Public School in Kohat and lives in the school’s hostel.
The 12 year old’s time is usually spent in libraries with books, or walking around the nature in the evening.
“My favorite authors, whom I have taken inspiration from, include Olaf Core and Ghani Khan,” Bilawal mentioned when asked about his favorite authors, adding that they have both written extensively on Pashtoons.
12 year old Bilawal’s next book will be on the people of Balochistan. “I want to explore the people and culture of the province and write on them.”
