5 Important Tips for Long Lasting Makeup

I’m sure every girl is fond of makeup. Even if she isn’t a huge makeup hoarder, she’ll still have some items to wear occasionally. It’s because makeup boosts our confidence and makes up look our best and that’s why I love wearing it. I don’t have to worry about my insecurities or flaws peeking out when I’m all glammed up. I’ll start my day with much more energy and remain focused throughout the day. Here are a few tips that I have tried and tested which make my makeup last all day long!

Clean, Well-Prepped Skin

It’s very important to prep your skin before applying makeup. You need to work on your skincare routine so you target the right areas if you have problematic skin. Having clean skin means that you will have a clear surface area to work on without any interruptions. The next important step is a primer. Primer helps in creating a smooth base for makeup. The makeup will glide on a well-prepped skin. There are all sorts of primers available in the market but you need to identify your skin type and then get a primer. Primer also helps in filling pores which prevents the makeup from sinking into the skin.

Set Creams with Powders

Creams tend to transfer upon touch and when applied on their own, they do not last for long. What I mean by this is that if you’re applying any cream-based product, then you have to set it with a powder. You’re using a cream contour and chiseled your cheekbones to look like Angelina Jolie, but it’s of no use because it won’t stay for long. You need to top it off with a powder contour so that it dries down and is transfer-proof. This practice should be followed for all cream products, especially if you have oily skin. This will increase the longevity of your makeup and make it stay on for the whole day.

Waterproof Mascaras & Eyeliners

I’m not a fan of waterproof mascaras because they tend to damage your lashes but without a doubt that sucker is hard to take off. If you have an important occasion to attend, then definitely opt for waterproof makeup such as mascaras and eyeliners. If you have oily eyelids and your eye makeup disappears or sheers down, then waterproof eyeliners will be your best friend. The key to removing it is to use an oil-based makeup remover so you don’t irritate your eyes.

Setting Sprays

Now that you’ve applied so much on your face, you need something to keep it intact. Setting sprays are the carefully crafted potions that lock your makeup in place. Whether you have oily skin or dry, you need this spray in your life. You’ve so much powder sitting on top of your skin and setting spray will help in melting those powder layers. It’ll make it look more natural and close to your skin so that your makeup doesn’t look cakey.

Avoid Contact

The most important tip is to stop touching your face when you have applied makeup. I’ve seen a lot of girls that keep touching their face, but this hinders the longevity of your makeup. The more you touch your face, the more it’ll lift the makeup and you’ll keep transferring it on to your hand. Thus, touching your face should be off the list no matter what happens.
