A Clash In Religious Festivities Caused A Riot At Al-Aqsa Mosque in Palestine

Al Aqsa in Palestine was attacked due to the clash in religious festivities between Christians, Jews and Muslims. 20 casualties occurred in the face-off.

“Plenty of hooded males” marched into Al-Aqsa before dawn on Friday, yelling and lighting off fireworks before groups flung rocks at the Western Wall, which is regarded as the most sacred location where Jews can worship, according to Israeli police.

“20 injured have been evacuated to Jerusalem health facilities about the current hostilities,” the Red Crescent of Palestine reported, adding that “there are still injured at the location.” Three cops were injured, according to Israeli police.

Witnesses reported Israeli security personnel fired rubber-coated bullets at Palestinian protestors who hurled stones at them. The current skirmishes follow three weeks of fatal rioting in Israel as well as the occupied West Bank and coincide with Passover and Easter, the Jewish and Christian festivals, as well as Ramadan.

Al-Aqsa is the third holiest location in Islam. It is known to Jews as the Temple Mount, after two ancient temples that were claimed to have existed there. The complex, which is located in Israeli-annexed east Jerusalem, is at the core of the Israeli-Palestinian dispute.

Prior to the start of Ramazan this season, Jordan and Israel, which is also the custodian of holy sites in contested east Jerusalem, ramped up negotiations in an attempt to avoid a repetition of the bloodshed from last year.

During the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan the year before, skirmishes erupted in Jerusalem, notably between Israeli police and Palestinians worshipping at Al-Aqsa, prompting Israel to launch 11 days of destructive bombings on Gaza.
