In a rare instance of pure friendship, two long lost friends who were separated by the partition reunite in Kartarpur. Sardar Gopal Singh (from India) and Muhammad Bashir (from Pakistan) had an emotional reunion for the first time since 1947.

Enduring friendship

According to Singh, the two have been friends from an early age. He also talked about how they spent their youthful days having food and tea together.

The two reunited after Singh went to Kartarpur to perform religious rites at Gurdwara Darbar Sahib. Coincidentally, that is where he also met Bashir who went to the temple as a visitor.

The reunion captivated the hearts of many Indian pilgrims and Pakistani visitors at the site. Such stories are a true testament of real friendships that last for years despite such barriers. The examples of such news also inspires hope of a rekindling of friendship between India and Pakistan.
