Are Online Classes Helpful or Not?
Amid the recent coronavirus outbreak and global lockdown, students are being forced to study from home, and well, it isn't fair to be very honest.
Educational Services in Pakistan have never been up to the mark. They tend to lack at some point or other. If we see the local text books being used in Matriculation or Intermediate, they haven’t changed since the last two decades or so. However, the education given in universities is comparatively more better and unbiased. Nevertheless, in a situation like this current lockdown, students have no other option but to take online classes from home. And these online classes are neither easy for the teachers to give nor for the students to take.
Regardless of the fact that teachers are trying their best to teach students, things aren’t the same. The level of motivation, the standard of education and the maintenance of decorum, all have been violated. Where on one hand, few students are wealthy enough to own a laptop and a stable internet connection, others aren’t. Living in Pakistan, not everyone has a stable internet connection. Students keep on missing lectures and notes because of bad connectivity during online classes.
Moreover, according to a student, universities should also be returning the fees they took for this semester. Obviously, neither are their resources being used nor are their educational services being given properly.
However, if students are raising their voices against such things, the universities are taking strict actions. There have been several notices from different universities. Each telling that students can sit at home and waste their semester if they want to. Online classes won’t end.
It is shameful that few of the educational institutions are not taking student’s concern seriously. It is their right to proper education, which they are surely not receiving since the last few days. God knows, when this situation might come at ease and students will start receiving proper education again.
