Benedict Cumberbatch and His Family Attacked by Former Chef in London
A previous chef, Jack Bissell, with a fish knife invaded and vandalised actor Benedict Cumberbatch's London residence while his family was home.
British actor Benedict Cumberbatch’s residence in London recently came under scrutiny to have suffered an attack by a previous chef. As reported to the BBC, 35-year-old Jack Bissell pushed through the entrance iron gate while brandishing a knife.
He said, “I know you’ve moved here, I hope it burns down,” according to testimony given previously this month in court. The Sherlock actor was at the residence during the incident with his spouse and three kids.
On May 10, the formerly employed chef entered a plea of admission to causing harm at Wood Green Crown Court. He was then given a £250 fine. A three-year restraint order was also issued against him, preventing him from ever again going near the Cumberbatch family members or their home.
Bissell formerly held a chef position at a hotel in Mayfair until 2020. It was claimed in court that he lifted a plant and flung it at the yard wall. The intercom was then ripped loose by him with a fish knife after he spat at it. He fled the area but was later apprehended once his DNA was found on the intercom, according to the news source.
“Naturally all of the family were absolutely terrified and thought this guy was going to get in and hurt them. Luckily it never went that far. Benedict and Sophie have had many sleepless nights since worrying that they may be targeted again,” according to an insider linked to the Sherlock actor, Benedict Cumberbatch, who spoke to a news publication.
Before launching his attack, Bissell purchased two packets of pita bread from a neighbouring store and informed the storekeeper that he intended to get in and set the house on fire, according to the prosecution’s testimony in court.
Since Bissell made no attempt to defend himself in court, it is unclear why he singled out Benedict Cumberbatch.
He has a history of stealing convictions and has received warnings for property violations, a disorderly conduct offence, and a narcotics offence. He was seen being taken into custody in downtown London during anti-military involvement in Syria demonstrations in 2015.
The BBC’s Sherlock and films like Doctor Strange made Benedict Cumberbatch one of the most well-known actors in the world.
