Dr Pasha passed away from COVID-19 on July 15. While he had initially isolated himself at his residence, he had to be shifted to a private hospital on June 22 as he had started to face breathing difficulties.

According to Dr Pasha’s cousin, Dr Bilquis Shabbir from the King Edward Medical University (KEMU), the CEO of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi Institute of Cardiology (CPEIC) Dr Rana Altaf had called KEMU VC Dr Khalid Masud Gondal on July 4 to inform that Dr Pasha’s health was deteriorating.

By July 6, the team of doctors decided to place Dr Pasha on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) treatment. This treatment is used restore heart and lung function in patients experiencing cardiac and/or respiratory failure, and it had shown improvement in Dr Pasha’s health.
