CM Shah Worried About Increasing COVID-19 Cases

CM Shah in a video message showed his concerns over the rapidly increases cases of COVID-19 in Pakistan, especially Sindh. The slum areas can get easily infected due to lack of social distancing and proper preventive measures. People living in slum areas have it harder than most and so they go out to get ration from ration drives, without paying heed to preventive guidelines and have a higher chance of getting infected.

CM Shah said that what he feared had happened as he announced a family of seven had been infected by COVID-19. He mentioned:

“The head of a family living in Karachi’s Central Zone caught the virus and brought it home with him. A one-year-old son and six-year-old daughter are among those infected,”

He focused on social distancing and following guidelines mentioned by the government in order to stay safe. CM Shah said 642 tests were conducted in the province of which 92 came back positive while giving an update of the past 24 hours.

He also mentioned:

“The number of confirmed cases in the province now stands at 1,128. So far 349 patients have recovered in Sindh,”

CM Shah also mentioned the 1,380 pilgrims that had arrive through Iran border, out of whom 1,108 had tested negative. They were kept in quarantine for two weeks and later on discharged. He also mentioned that the industries and other offices would have to ensure strict preventive measures once lockdown is lifted.

China observed a lockdown for 8 weeks which helped them curb the virus quickly. If we lift the lockdown which has been extended to April 14, then we may see the virus spreading even faster. Hence, there might be chances of extending the lockdown for the safety of people, which will be announced soon.
