Ehsaas: People with low income to receive Rs 12,000
Under PM Imran Khan's Ehsaas relief program, people with low-income and daily wage workers will receive a Rs 12,000 four-month stipend in lump sum.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced a relief programme in which approximately 10 million people will receive a stipend. The stipend will be Rs 12,000 for four months which will be provided in a lump sum. The programme is called ‘Ehsaas’. However, 5 million people are already registered under this programme which is also called Ehsaas Kafalat.
Earlier the officials had proposed to distribute a stipend of Rs 4,000 but settled on Rs 3,000. The total amount of four months will be Rs 12,000 given to a total of 10 million beneficiaries. Out of the 10 million, 5 million beneficiaries are already registered with Ehsaas Kalafat programme, 3 million are those who have an income of Rs 20,000 or less and the rest are daily wage workers or vendors.
There’s a whole process of selecting the beneficiaries before they are eligible to receive the stipend. The ones who are not registered with Ehsaas Kafalat but belong to a low-income group will be asked to send their CNIC to designated numbers for collection of data if they are interested to receive monetary assistance.
The next step will be to verify that data with the help of NADRA, which has all the data of people in Pakistan. During the verification, Ehsaas programme officials will check if the people fall under the category of low-income groups or not. Few factors that they will be checking are:
- They should not be a government worker nor married to one.
- They should not own a car or a bike.
- No record of travelling abroad.
These are the few factors that they will check along with their household income, which should be Rs 20,000 or less. Once everything is checked, applicants will receive a text messaging asking them to collect their stipend from registered banks.
