Eid ul Adha 2020 to be on July 31 in Pakistan: Chaudhary Fawad Hussain
Chaudhary Fawad Hussain has announced that Eid ul Adha 2020 will be celebrated on July 31 across Pakistan. The moon can be viewed in Karachi on July 21.
When Eid ul Fitr’s moon sighting was the main topic of discussion, we could see the tension between Minister of Science and Technology, Chaudhary Fawad Hussain and the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee. Now it seems that the tension is going to peak again; Chaudhary Fawad Hussain has announced that Eid ul Adha 2020 will be celebrated on July 31 across the country.

The Minister tweeted that the moon for ZeAlHaj will be “visible over Karachi and it’s peripheral areas” on July 21, adding that the exact location can be found by using the Ruet App.
Chaudhary Fawad has been advocating that the Ministry of Science and Technology should be allowed to take the lead in viewing the moon. In the past, it has been the duty of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
On Eid ul Fitr, the minister had announced that two moon observatories will be set up next year in order to “permanently resolve” any conflicts in the moon sighting. These are to be opened in Islamabad and Gwadar, so that anyone who wishes to view the moon can.
“Given the debate we observed over moon [sighting] this year, we intend to set up a moon observatory in Islamabad next year and we’re also trying to set one up in Gwadar too,” the minister explained.
“The issue of moon-sighting will be permanently resolved after the moon observatories” are established, he remared. “A common person will be able to go and see the moon and decide for themselves”.
