Former Interior Minister Rehman Malik passes away at 70

Rehman Malik passed away due to covid related complications.

The former Interior Minister of Pakistan Rehman Malik has passed away at the age of 70. According to reports, the most senior member of the PPP passed away due to covid related complications.

Rehman Malik had tested positive for Covid-19 in the month of January. He was then shifted to an intensive care unit of a private hospital in Islamabad.

However the situation deteriorated further and earlier this month, he was put on a ventilator.

Following the news of Rehman Malik’s death, his nephew Waqas Malik came out to address the media. He stated that the funeral will be held at a mosque in Islamabad’s Sector H-8 at 2:30 PM.

The news of Rehman Malik’s death has sent shockwaves across the political landscape in Pakistan. Many leaders have taken to social media to express their sorrow at the demise of Rehman Malik.

 

Rehman Malik has been regarded as one of the more polarizing political figures in Pakistan. From 2008 to 2013, he was the Minister of Interior. He was also the recipient of multiple accolades such as “Sitara-I-Shujaat” and “Nishan-I-Imtiaz”.
