Gigi Hadid Stands For Free Palestine Movement But Disagrees With The Violence
Gigi Hadid offered her sincere sympathies to all those who have been affected by the violence, while also expressing her strong condemnation of the attacks.
Model Gigi Hadid, a Palestinian-American, described the bloodshed in Palestine to be an unjustifiable horror and made it clear that although she embraces the Palestinian cause, she opposes aggression. She issued an extensive post on Instagram, saying that while she has hopes and goals for Palestinians, none of them include the damage of a Jewish person.
Hadid, whose biological father is Palestinian, expressed her condolences to all those touched by the tragedy, particularly the young people.
“The terrorising of innocent people is not in alignment with and does not do any good for the ‘Free Palestine’ movement. The idea that it does has fuelled a painful, decades-long cycle of back-and-forth retaliation (which no innocent civilian, Palestinian or Israeli, deserves to be a casualty of), and helps perpetuate the false idea that being Pro-Palestine [equals being] antisemitic,” Gigi wrote.
Hamas unleashed its worst attack on Israel in decades early on Saturday, unleashing an outpouring of rockets from Gaza and deploying militants over the fence. This is when the new wave of terrorism in Palestine started.
Israeli media reported gunfights between groups of Palestinian rebels and police in southern Israel as Israel declared itself to be in a battlefield status and commenced its own attacks targeting Hamas installations in Gaza.
Hadid offered sympathy to everyone who was “hurting”. “There are many complicated, individual, and legitimate emotions, but each individual is deserving of fundamental rights, care, and safety, regardless of their country of origin, faith, ethnic background, or place of birth.”
Bella Hadid, her sister and another model have been outspoken supporters of the pro-Palestine campaign. Bella, in particular, faced intense criticism for her political views, with many people assuming that type of pressure was the reason for her abrupt “neutrality” on social media in May 2021 after participating in a number of protests and her subsequent silence.
