GIK Ranked Top Pakistani University by Times Higher Education
Times Higher Education has ranked Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIK) as the top university in Pakistan.
The Times Higher Education, one of the most prestigious university rankings publishers across the globe, has ranked Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIK) in Topi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as the top university in Pakistan.
According to Times Higher Education, GIK has been rewarded the top spot in Pakistan in its World University Impact Rankings 2021 in the category of Quality Education.
GIK has been ranked at the 30th position out of 966 universities in the global ranking list.
According to the faculty members and administration at GIK, the rankings are given based on the societal influence of a university/ higher education institution towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). GIK has set a record by being the only university from Pakistan that has been featured in the top 50 universities around the world in SDG-4.
The official process that all universities went under before being placed on their respective rank was through the SDG-4 measuring the university’s contribution to learning, research and its commitment to providing quality education. GIK was also ranked in the top 300 universities worldwide in SDG-1.
“Being ranked 1st in Pakistan, and 30th globally in the SDG of ‘Quality Education’, is a remarkable feat,” said a GIK faculty member.
“We [GIK] are proud to lead by example in the efforts to impart quality education to our citizens and to contribute to sustainable development, which is today recognized internationally as being of immense importance,” he added.
The ranking is a testament to the hard work and commitment of GIK’s faculty, staff and management in providing the best quality education to their students whilst promoting the cause of sustainable development.
