Gul Makai: A Biography of Malala Yousufzai
Gul Makai is an Indian biographical drama of a Pakistan Nobel Prize Laurette and an education activist, Malala Yousafzai.
A trailer of a biopic on Malala Yousafzai named Gul Makai just released. The team had been working on this movie since 2017 and it is expected to release on 31st January 2020. The trailer looks promising, but I’d be happier if our own country would have produced a movie about her. 
Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani girl who was born and raised in a small village where she received her primary education. Being from a small village made it harder for her and the girls around her to go to school due to the patriarchy and extremism. She fought until her own life was endangered as she received many death threats in Pakistan. She survived a gunshot to her head and was transferred to the UK along with her family.
Malala Yousafzai is the youngest Nobel Prize Laurette in the world at the mere age of 17 years old. She is an inspiration for many girls all over the world because of her story, struggle, and her work. The movie is directed by H.E. Amjad Khan, researched & written by Bhaswati Chakrabarty. The lead role is played by Reem Shaikh, who is an Indian television star at the age of 16.
Trigger Warning: Violence
The trailer shows a girl from Swat Valley, fighting for education. We can see familiar scenes as we’ve known her journey, but the movie is from Malala’s perspective. It’s an interesting twist as we see what she saw and had to face during her stay in Pakistan. It might be a little exaggerated, but does any Bollywood movie exist without it?
Anyway, I’d be interested in seeing how the whole movie turns out to be. Om Puri is also part of the cast, although he doesn’t appear in this trailer. So, mark your calendars as it’s releasing on the 31st of this month.
