HBL PSL 2021 Postponed after Players test Positive for Covid-19

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that HBL PSL 2021 has been postponed due to multiple positive Covid-19 cases amongst players

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that HBL PSL 2021 has been postponed due to multiple positive Covid-19 cases amongst players. According to the sources, seven players and a support staff official have tested positive for the virus, questioning PCB’s precautionary measures and reservations made to ensure the security of the players.

Tom Banton from Quetta Gladiators and Fawad Ahmed and Lewis Gregory from Islamabad United were amongst the players who tested positive. It has been reported that the players relaxed after Peshawar Zalmi’s head coach Daren Sammy and captain Wahab Riaz re-entered the team without following any security protocols. Moreover, the families of the players also joined the assumably “secure bubble” without any time in quarantine and proper testing. They were also allowed to mingle with the other team members.

Thereby, after a meeting with team owners, keeping in mind the health and wellbeing of all the players and staff members of the tournament, the Pakistan Cricket Board has decided to postpone the HBL PSL League 6 with immediate effect.

Currently, it aims to focus on the safety and security of all the participants and will arrange PCR tests, vaccines, and isolation facilities for the participants. PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan, Director  Commercial, and Babar Hamid will hold a media conference at the National Stadium at 3 pm to provide further updates on the situation.
