“Illegal Buildings to be Demolished” – SC

Supreme Court has ordered to bring down all the illegal buildings that have been constructed in Karachi.

Being a resident of Karachi myself, it is no hard to see if a building is illegally constructed. And such illegal constructions are taking place all over the city. Be it a posh area or underdeveloped areas, illegal construction is quite evident. Owners have erected buildings with floors more than permitted. People have also stretched out their homes to make comfortable parking inside and gardens outside their houses. Such construction is illegal, but no action had been taken against them as such. There were KMC supervisors who used to supervise the area, but were usually sold at some price or other.

Nevertheless, Supreme Court has ordered to demolish buildings in Gizri, PNT Colony, Punjab Colony and Delhi Colony areas of Karachi. Well, CJP Gulzar Ahmed was quite furious as well as unsatisfied by by government’s incompetency. He questioned the officials saying “You were entrusted with state-owned land and what have you done with this trust?” He further also ordered to extradite those living in slums and move them to a better livable place. All, so that the encroachments can be brought down. However, the next hearing on the case will take place on 21st Feb 2020.

Bringing down illegal building in Karachi

It is not just the case for illegal buildings. The supreme court should also take notice on the condition of roads in Karachi. There are innumerable places in Karachi, where the roads are in really bad conditions. Not only does that bring hindrance in commute, but also results in different road accidents. The people of Karachi have already given up on the government.

The court has been quite grateful for Karachiites. It is yet to see for how long does this go. And how much of the said words are actually implemented.
