Jury side with Depp as they give their verdict on the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard case
Heard now owes Depp 15 million dollars in damages.
The decision has been made by the jury on the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard case. The verdict being that Amber Heard has been found guilty of defamation.
The jury has found that Heard is liable for 15 million dollars worth in damages that she caused to Depp. Heard was also awarded 2 million dollars in compensation after she had one of her three counter claims against Depp.
Upon hearing the verdict, Depp had this to say; “The jury gave me my life back. I am truly humbled.”
He further went on to say; “I hope that my quest to have the truth be told will have helped others, men or women, who have found themselves in my situation, and that those supporting them never give up.”
In relation to the verdict, Heard had this to say; “I’m sad I lost this case. But I am sadder still that I seem to have lost a right I thought I had as an American – to speak freely and openly.”
She further went on to say that the verdict is a setback for women. She states; “It sets back the clock to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke out could be publicly shamed and humiliated.”
The Johnny Depp-Amber Heard case has been one of the prolific trials in recent history involving celebrities. For six continuous weeks, the jury had heard the testaments of both Depp and Heard.
In fact, the trial was so popular that according to BBC, a recent poll suggested that Americans were more interested in this trial then they were about the crisis in Ukraine.
