Karachi PTI Supporters Under Protest After Assassination Attempt

Imran Khan, the leader of the PTI and a former prime minister, was shot, which led to demonstrations on the streets of Karachi and other areas of Sindh.

Several close friends of Imran Khan from PTI were also injured in the burst of an assault weapon, however, he only sustained injuries to his legs.

Huge crowds of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf members marched to the streets, burned tyres, staged sit-ins, stopped important roads, and caused gridlock on nearly all of the city’s main thoroughfares.

As soon as it was reported that the PTI chairman had been attacked, party members began holding protests throughout the city.

As their leaders called for protests against the “assassination attempt” on Imran Khan on social media, the demonstrators gathered at significant junctions in the city. Anger-filled demonstrations were seen at more than a dozen junctions and important locations throughout the city until late at night.

Shahzad Qureshi, an MPA and prominent leader of the PTI branch in Karachi, claimed that despite the party having only five major protest locations listed, there was a sudden response from residents all around the city.

However, he continued, “But the people are coming out of their homes and taking to streets on their own and within no time we are witnessing protest at around a dozen places of Karachi where several people, including women and children, are registering their protest against attack on their beloved leader in a peaceful manner.”

Even while most of the protests remained peaceful, some angry workers have been accused of adopting a confrontational stance when they were denied the right of way to block highways. Several PTI employees were shown in a social media video aggressively obstructing traffic on a road and abusing a rider for disobeying their orders.

PTI activists in Hyderabad attempted to compel the closing of businesses in various locations while staging demonstrations at Hyder Chowk, Latifabad Unit-2, and Autobahn Road.

PTI employees who were furious also resorted to the roads in numerous Sindh towns.

In Dadu, activists stopped Katchehry Road and held a protest in front of the press club. Before organising a protest at Ghanta Ghar Chowk, they marched through the city. In the districts of Johi, Mehar, Sehwan, Kotri, and Jamshoro, the activists staged marches.

PTI workers shut roads and highways during similar protests in the towns of Nawabshah, Sakrand, Kazi Ahmed, Moro, Kandiaro, and Naushahro Feroze.
