Lata Mangeskar Slams Atif Aslam’s Version of Chalte Chalte

As of late, Atif Aslam recreated Lata Mangeshkar’s heartfelt melody Chalte Chalte from Pakeezah for the upcoming film Mitron. The music and verses for the cover version were given by Tanishk Bagchi. This rendition received a mixed response from the audience members as many slammed the makers for recreating a classic track. The music for the first melody picturized on Meena Kumari was given by Ghulam Mohammed while the lovely verses were penned by Kaifi Azmi.

Lata Mangeshkar has voiced her anguish in light of the fact that Tanishk Bagchi has made another variant of Mangeshkar’s ‘Chalte’ from Pakeezah(1972), which was formed by Ghulam Mohammed, for Nitin Kakkar’s upcoming Mitron.

Mangeshkar said she does not want to hear the remixed version:

“This trend of remixing old songs saddens me. Where is the creativity in simply lifting acknowledged, beloved classics and shuffling the notes around?”

Mangeshkar also spoke out against the changes made to old songs without the consent of the original composers and lyricists:

“Nobody has the right to tamper with the creativity of these great composers and lyricists.”
