Mahira Khan and Sania Nishtar Announced as BBC’s List of 100 Influential Women
Superwomen of Pakistan never fail to make the country proud! Mahira Khan and Sania Nishtar have been featured on the BBC list of 100 influential women!
The BBC has group has finally revealed its list of 100 most inspiring and influential women; two of our own, Mahira Khan and Sania Nishtar, are included on the list representing Pakistan.
Sania Nishtar who is the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection has been mentioned in the BBC List of 100 influential women under the knowledge category. Whereas Mahira Khan is mentioned under the creative category.
Moreover, Sania Nishtar tweeted that she is truly honored to be a part of this list and be acknowledged by the BBC.

Mahira Khan and Sania Nishtar are amongst the 98 truly amazing women mentioned on the BBC list of 100 influential women. Women such as Sanna Marin, who leads Finland’s all-female coalition government; Michelle Yeoh, star of the new Avatar and Marvel films; Sarah Gilbert, who heads the Oxford University research into a coronavirus vaccine; and Jane Fonda, a climate activist, and actress.
Moreover, the BBC list of influential women also featured Bilkis from India, who, at 82, was part of a group of women who protested against a controversial citizenship law. A Syrian plant virologist Safaa Kumari, who, after discovering seeds that could safeguard food security in Syria, was ready to risk her life to rescue them from Aleppo.
The famous Afghan activist, Laleh Osmany, was also mentioned in the BBC list of 100 influential women; for three years, she fought with the government to record women’s names on their National Identity Cards and their children’s birth certificates under the WhereIsMyName campaign.
To honor the women who make countless sacrifices on a daily to help others, the list has left one space blank. It is supposed to represent all those extraordinary women. “Though BBC 100 Women cannot name every woman across the globe who has contributed, this space is designed to allow you to think of the people who have had an impact on you, throughout 2020.”
